Updated Oct 15, 2026
Adobe sells e-signature inside Acrobat: Acrobat Standard costs US$14.99 a month on an annual plan, with a cancellation fee of up to half the remaining year after 14 days, and its pages don't state a request limit. SignWell Light ($10, unlimited documents), SignNow ($8 for unlimited users), Zoho Sign (signer checks, free plan), PandaDoc (payments) and Dropbox Sign cost less or state more.

Why people look elsewhere
- There's no self-serve Acrobat Sign plan. Adobe's business pricing pages redirect to its Acrobat plans page, and the standalone Acrobat Sign Solutions are sold through sales. The cheapest plan that sends for signature is Acrobat Standard; Acrobat Express (US$9.99 a month on an annual plan) doesn't send for signature at all.
- You pay for a PDF editor. Acrobat Standard is US$14.99 a month on an annual plan, or US$24.99 month to month. Its card leads with creating, editing, converting and organizing PDFs.
- The annual terms. On the annual plan billed monthly, a "Fee applies up to half your remaining annual commitment if you cancel after 14 days". The prepaid plan has "No refund if you cancel after 14 days".
- No stated allowance. Adobe's pages don't say how many requests Acrobat Standard allows. Only its teams plans are described as having "no usage caps".
- Extras sit higher up. Web forms and bulk send start at Acrobat Pro (US$19.99 a month on an annual plan). Adobe's HIPAA page lists the standalone Acrobat Sign service, not Acrobat Standard, and the BAA goes through sales.
- The free tier is small. A free Acrobat account allows "two request e-signatures transactions every 30 days", and the Standard card shows Buy now, not a trial.
The alternatives, by what you need
If you need unlimited documents for less: SignWell
SignWell Light is $10 a month billed annually ($120 a year) or $12 month to month, for one sender with "Unlimited Documents", 5 templates per sender, reminders, an audit trail and a Google Drive integration. Its comparison table ticks "HIPAA support / BAA" for Light, support is by email, phone or Zoom call, and the page says "No long-term contracts". There's a free plan with 3 documents a month. Extra senders are $10 a month each on the annual plan.
If you need one low price for a whole team: SignNow
SignNow Business is $8 a month billed annually ($96 a year) or $20 month to month, for one account with unlimited users. It includes reusable templates, auto-reminders, audit trails and cloud storage, plus 24/7 live chat. The catch: "Annual plans include up to 100 signature invites per account per year", shared by everyone. There's a 7-day trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
If you need signer ID checks and a free plan: Zoho Sign
Zoho Sign Standard is US$10 per user a month billed annually (US$120 a year) or US$12 month to month, with 25 envelopes per user a month. Its comparison table ticks SMS OTP, knowledge-based checks from IDology and Stripe Identity for Standard, and it lists priority support by email, web and phone. The free plan covers a single user and 5 envelopes a month. Templates start at Professional, per Zoho's help.
If you need payments at signing: PandaDoc
PandaDoc Starter is $19 per user a month billed annually ($228 a year) or $35 month to month, with unlimited documents, up to 5 templates and 24/7 in-app chat. It can collect payments through Stripe (the Collect Payment workflow step is still being rolled out to Starter). It has no automatic reminders; those start at Business. Free eSign sends up to 60 documents a calendar year. Prices are from PandaDoc's help centre, because its site showed a security check.
If you need unlimited requests and a free plan to start: Dropbox Sign
Dropbox Sign Essentials is $15 a month billed yearly ($180) or $20 month to month, for one sender with unlimited signature requests, up to 5 templates, reminders and cloud storage integrations. Its free plan sends 3 requests a month, and paid plans have a 30-day free trial. Its pricing table lists email support for Essentials.
All prices come from each company's own pages linked above, read Sep 27, 2026.
Before you switch
Adobe's plans page sets the exit terms. Month to month, you can "Cancel anytime, no fee". On the annual plan billed monthly, cancelling after 14 days costs up to half of what's left of the year; the prepaid plan has no refund after 14 days. So check which billing option you're on and time the switch to your renewal.
If you still edit PDFs, you'll lose those tools with Acrobat Standard. Adobe's pages we read don't cover exporting your agreement history.
