What you get on Acrobat Standard

Acrobat Standard is the plan we score, because it is the cheapest self-serve plan whose card lists "Collect e-signatures and track responses". Acrobat Express does not send for signature.

Adobe's help article on sending lets you set "a reminder frequency" and save an agreement as a template; it names no plan restriction. The request-signature page says tracking requests creates "a valuable audit trail with timestamps". Adobe's e-sign page says you can send "from Acrobat on any desktop or mobile device", and the plans page FAQ covers "OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, and more".

Catches and fine print

• No stated request limit. Adobe's pages don't say how many signature requests Acrobat Standard for individuals allows. The business e-sign page promises "no usage caps" only for Acrobat for teams plans. A free Acrobat account allows two requests every 30 days.
• Cancellation. On the annual plan billed monthly, a "Fee applies up to half your remaining annual commitment if you cancel after 14 days." The prepaid annual plan has "No refund if you cancel after 14 days." Month to month at US$24.99 can be cancelled anytime with no fee.
• No trial on Standard. The Standard card shows Buy now only; the free trials are on Acrobat Pro and Studio.
• Forms, payments, ID checks. "Create web forms" is on the Pro and Studio cards, not Standard. Adobe's pages don't say whether Acrobat Standard can collect payments or verify signer identity.
• HIPAA. Adobe's HIPAA-Ready page lists Adobe Acrobat Sign, the standalone service, and says to contact "your Adobe sales representative or customer success manager" for a BAA. Acrobat Standard isn't on that list.

Adobe's contact options table lists phone and chat for Acrobat Standard for account, installation, activation and how-to questions, plus Adobe Community. Teams plans add 24x7 tech support.

Who it suits

Adobe fits someone who already edits PDFs in Acrobat and sends the occasional document for signature, and would rather have one subscription than two.
