Prices from DocuSign's pricing page and SignWell's pricing page, both read Sep 27, 2026.

Where they differ

  • Volume. SignWell's FAQ: "all paid plans come with unlimited documents (signing requests)." DocuSign Personal allows 5 envelopes a month.
  • Free plan. SignWell starts every account on a free plan: 1 sender, 1 template, 3 documents a month. DocuSign offers a free trial of unstated length. Its home page says "Send, sign and manage all your agreements for free", but the pricing page lists no free plan, so we read it as a trial.
  • Support. SignWell says it's "available by email, phone, or over a Zoom call" on every plan; no chat is stated. DocuSign's Standard Support is the Support Center and chat; phone needs a paid support plan.
  • HIPAA. SignWell's comparison table ticks "HIPAA support / BAA" for Light. DocuSign's table shows "HIPAA support through BAA" as not included on Personal, Standard or Business Pro, and "Contact sales" for Enhanced plans.
  • Payments. DocuSign collects payments from Business Pro ($40 per user a month paid yearly). SignWell's pricing table doesn't show payment collection on any plan.

Who should pick which

Pick DocuSign if you send 5 envelopes a month or fewer and want chat support, or need payment collection later on Business Pro.

Pick SignWell if you send more than 5 a month, want a free plan or cheaper month-to-month billing at $12, want phone support, or need a signed HIPAA BAA on the entry plan.
