Foxit eSign vs Adobe Acrobat Sign: an annual envelope cap against month-to-month

Updated Oct 6, 2026

The short answer

Foxit eSign Essentials costs $120 per user a year, billed annually only, with 250 envelopes a year and 10 templates. Adobe's cheapest plan that sends for signature is Acrobat Standard at US$179.88 a year or US$24.99 month to month; its pages don't state a request limit. Foxit's cloud storage connectors are a paid add-on; Adobe lists them for Acrobat.

Who should pick which

  • Adobe Acrobat Sign: PDF editing and e-signature requests in one Acrobat subscription, from $14.99 a month
  • Foxit eSign: People who already use Foxit PDF Editor and send about 20 envelopes a month

Adobe no longer shows a self-serve Acrobat Sign plan: e-signature requests come with Acrobat subscriptions, and the standalone Acrobat Sign Solutions are sold through sales. So Adobe's side here is Acrobat Standard, the cheapest plan on its plans page whose card lists "Collect e-signatures and track responses". Acrobat Express doesn't send for signature.

Price

For one user billed yearly, Foxit eSign Essentials is $120 (about $10 a month) and Acrobat Standard US$179.88, so Adobe costs US$59.88 a year more. Foxit offers no monthly billing. Adobe does: US$24.99 month to month, cancel anytime with no fee.

Adobe's annual plans have exit terms: the annual plan billed monthly charges "up to half your remaining annual commitment if you cancel after 14 days", and the prepaid plan has no refund after 14 days. Foxit's pages we read don't state cancellation terms.

For teams, Foxit eSign Business is $300 per user a year with a 5-license minimum, so at least $1,500 a year. Acrobat Standard for teams is US$203.88 per license a year, US$1,019.40 for five.

Prices from Foxit's pricing page and Adobe's plans page, both read Sep 27, 2026.

Where they differ

  • Envelope limit. Foxit's Essentials card says "250 envelopes annually". The same page's FAQ says it doesn't use per-envelope pricing or "transaction limits"; we use the card's cap, the worse reading for you. Adobe's pages don't state a limit for Acrobat Standard.
  • Cloud storage. Foxit's Google Drive, Box, Dropbox and OneDrive links are Foxit Connectors, a paid add-on on both plans (its compare table also ticks "Upload Integrations" for Essentials; we read it as an add-on). Adobe's plans page FAQ says Acrobat connects to OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and Box.
  • Signer checks. Foxit's compare table ticks eSignature Authentication for Essentials: SMS and email codes; its KBA Enterprise Authentication is Business only. Adobe's pages don't state signer ID verification for Acrobat Standard.
  • Support. Adobe lists phone and chat for Acrobat Standard. Foxit lists phone (1-866-MYFOXIT) and tickets; no chat is stated.
  • Trying it. Foxit offers a 14-day free trial of Essentials with no credit card. Adobe's free account allows two requests every 30 days; its Standard card shows Buy now only.

Who should pick which

Pick Foxit eSign if you send up to about 20 envelopes a month, want the lower yearly price, or need SMS or email signer checks on the entry plan.

Pick Adobe Acrobat Standard if you want month-to-month billing, cloud storage links without an add-on, or PDF editing in the same subscription.
