Compare the price you'll pay from year two
Some services discount the first year, so compare the renewal: it's the rate that lasts. For one state, per year:
- InCorp: $129, the same in every state.
- Bizee and CorpNet: $149.
- Harbor Compliance: $99 the first year for new customers, then $159.
- ZenBusiness: $99 the first year if you form your LLC with it, then $199.
- Registered Agents Inc: $200, and that includes filing your state compliance report. You pay the state fee.
- LegalZoom: $249. It auto-renews at the purchase rate, and that rate is subject to change.
- MyCorporation: $120 the first year, then $249.
- Firstbase: $299, which includes annual report and franchise tax filings, state fees extra.
- Swyft Filings: "around $149 per quarter," which is $596 a year.

If you'll keep the same agent for years
We found two services that cut the yearly rate when you pay ahead. InCorp charges $117 a year on a 2-year term, down to $87 a year on a 5-year term; prepaid terms aren't refundable and there's no credit for a part-used period. Harbor Compliance holds its $99 first-year rate if you prepay 2 or 3 years, then renews at $159. Every price here is per state, so a company registered in three states pays three times. Checked Sep 25, 2026.
Check what the yearly price includes
We check five things: scanning of legal papers and state mail, same-day notice of service of process, an online account, annual-report or compliance reminders, and the agent's address on public filings in place of yours.
- Bizee, CorpNet, Firstbase, Harbor Compliance, LegalZoom and Registered Agents Inc include all five. Registered Agents Inc's client agreement covers up to 15 legal documents a year and says a fee may apply above that.
- InCorp includes four. It scans legal documents the same day they arrive, but its fee list charges $15 for each service-of-process document over 5 pages, waived once a year per entity, so we don't count scanning as free.
- ZenBusiness and Swyft Filings include four. We didn't find annual-report reminders in either; Swyft sells alerts as ComplianceGuard at $199 a year.
- MyCorporation: we found only its address on public filings. Its page doesn't describe scanning, online access to your documents, same-day notice or annual-report reminders as part of the service.

Check that it covers your state
InCorp says it serves all 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Harbor Compliance and Registered Agents Inc cover all 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico, and CorpNet all 50 states and DC. ZenBusiness's agent page says all 50 states; DC appears only on its contact page. Bizee, MyCorporation and Swyft Filings say all 50 states on their agent pages and don't mention DC there. Firstbase's product page says all 50 states, but a help article lists 34. LegalZoom's agent page doesn't say where it serves. Checked Sep 25 and Sep 27, 2026.
How the ranking weighs them
The yearly price counts for 40% of the score, and it's the rate after any first-year discount. What's included counts 30%, and coverage, cancellation terms and support 10% each. If one of these matters more to you than its weight, read the ranking with that in mind. The formula behind each criterion is on how we score registered agent services.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a registered agent service cost?
Among services priced by the year, the rate after any first-year offer runs from $129 at InCorp to $299 at Firstbase. Swyft Filings prices by the quarter, around $149, which comes to $596 a year. First years cost less at Harbor Compliance and ZenBusiness ($99 each, ZenBusiness only when you form your LLC with it) and MyCorporation ($120). Checked Sep 25 and Sep 27, 2026.
Is the first year free if I form my LLC with the same company?
- Bizee gives a free first year with every formation package, then charges $149 a year.
- Registered Agents Inc includes one free year in its $100 formation, then charges $200 a year.
- CorpNet includes 60 days in Basic and a year in Deluxe ($219) and Complete ($269), then $149 a year.
- ZenBusiness includes it in no package, but its agent page offers $99 for the first year when you form an LLC, then $199.
Checked Sep 25 and Sep 27, 2026.
Can I cancel whenever I want?
Most let you leave once another agent is on file, and most don't refund the unused part of the year.
- Swyft Filings lets you cancel any time, with no pro-rata refund. Bizee lets you cancel by appointing a new agent and telling it, and doesn't refund payments already made.
- InCorp lets you cancel before the renewal date; after it, the year isn't refundable.
- MyCorporation gives no refund in the first year. After that, if you cancel within the first six months of a renewal year, it refunds the remaining six months pro rata.
- Firstbase needs an email at least ten business days before renewal, with proof you changed agents.
- ZenBusiness says you may have to pay a cancellation fee if you stop before the first 12 months end.
- Harbor Compliance, Registered Agents Inc and CorpNet can charge you fees for removing their details or filing their resignation as your agent. Harbor's help center and Registered Agents Inc's policy page also say there's no fee to cancel; we go by the fee clauses, the worse reading for you.
Checked Sep 25 and Sep 27, 2026.
Will my home address stay off public records?
All ten say their address goes on the public record in place of yours: for example LegalZoom, Bizee and ZenBusiness. That address isn't always yours to use as a business address, though. InCorp's terms forbid listing its address as your business address and set a $49 fee for doing so, while Registered Agents Inc says its service includes a business address. Checked Sep 25, 2026.
What support comes with it?
LegalZoom's agent page lists phone hours of Mon. to Fri. 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. PT and Sat. to Sun. 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT (checked Sep 30, 2026). InCorp offers phone and live chat Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 6 PM Pacific. Bizee, CorpNet, MyCorporation and Swyft Filings give weekday hours on those pages. ZenBusiness staffs phone and chat "during business hours," with an AI assistant 24/7. Firstbase advertises 24/7 support without naming the channel. We didn't find support hours for Harbor Compliance or Registered Agents Inc. Checked Sep 25 and Sep 27, 2026.
