Sellfy review: no transaction fee, but every plan caps your yearly sales

Updated Oct 6, 2026 · scored under rubric v1

Verdict

Sellfy suits a creator selling downloads, subscriptions or print-on-demand with under $10k a year in sales, who wants no platform fee. The catches are the yearly sales caps on every plan and a price conflict on Starter that we resolve to the higher figure.

Sellfy's Starter plan costs $39 billed monthly or $348 a year, per its help centre, and covers up to $10k in sales a year. Sellfy takes no transaction fee; you pay Stripe's or PayPal's processing, which its pricing page puts at typically 2.9% + 30¢. The 14-day free trial can't take payments, and abandoned-cart recovery starts on Business.

What it does well

  • No Sellfy transaction fee on any plan
  • Unlimited products, coupon codes and your own domain with free SSL on Starter
  • Uses your own Stripe or PayPal account
  • 14-day free trial

Where it falls short

  • Starter caps sales at $10k a year; above it Sellfy may charge a 2% overage fee
  • Checkout is switched off during the free trial
  • No abandoned-cart recovery on Starter
  • Its own pages show two different Starter prices

Sellfy is a store builder for creators selling digital downloads, subscriptions, print-on-demand and physical goods. It has three paid plans, each capped by yearly sales, and no processor of its own: payments go through your Stripe or PayPal account.

What you get on Starter

The pricing page lists "Unlimited products" on Starter, along with coupon codes, your own domain and a free SSL certificate. Its help centre describes a stock function for limiting how many of each product or variant you sell, with no plan restriction named.

Sellfy says it "does not charge a transaction fee". You pay the processor instead: the pricing FAQ gives PayPal or Stripe fees as "typically 2.9% + 30¢", which is about $1.75 on a $50 sale. Its help centre confirms PayPal and Stripe are the only two options.

Cart abandonment is "Not included" on Starter; it starts on Business, as does product upselling.

Catches and fine print

  • Two Starter prices. The pricing page shows Starter at $29 a month billed monthly and $22 a month billed yearly. The help centre table says $39 a month and $348 a year. We use the help centre's figures, the worse reading for a buyer, until the two agree. Business and Premium match on both pages.
  • Sales caps. Each plan has a yearly sales limit. Past it, Sellfy says it may start charging a 2% overage fee on the revenue above the limit until you upgrade.
  • The trial can't sell. Its help centre says checkout isn't enabled during the two-week free trial, so you can build but not collect payments. There is no free plan.
  • Processor fees are separate. "Typically 2.9% + 30¢" is Sellfy's description of Stripe's and PayPal's fees, not a rate Sellfy sets.
  • No B2B tools mentioned. We found no wholesale or B2B features on Sellfy's pages.

Support

Premium is described as "For pros needing priority support". The pages we read don't say which channels or hours Starter and Business get.

Who it suits

Sellfy fits a creator whose sales will stay under $10k a year and who sells downloads, subscriptions or print-on-demand merch. There is no platform fee, and the plan includes unlimited products and your own domain.

Look elsewhere if your sales will pass the cap soon, if you want abandoned-cart emails on the entry plan, or if you need to take real orders during a trial.
