How much does a registered agent service cost?
Quick answer
A registered agent service costs $129 to $299 per state per year at the renewal rate among the 10 we rank, and $596 at Swyft Filings, which bills $149 a quarter. First-year offers of $99 or $120, or a free year with LLC formation, lower year one only. Prepaying can cut the rate, and some services charge extra for large documents or when you leave.
Registered agent services charge per state, per year. Prices here come from each company's own pages, read Sep 25 and Sep 27, 2026, and exclude any state fees.
Yearly prices
| Company | First year | Each year after | Billing |
|---|---|---|---|
| InCorp Services | $129 | $129 | Yearly |
| Bizee | $149 (free with its LLC formation) | $149 | Yearly |
| CorpNet | $149 | $149 | Yearly |
| Harbor Compliance | $99 for new customers | $159 | Yearly |
| ZenBusiness | $99 with its LLC formation | $199 | Yearly |
| Registered Agents Inc | $200 (free with its LLC formation) | $200 | Yearly |
| MyCorporation | $120 | $249 | Yearly |
| LegalZoom | $249 | $249 | Yearly |
| Firstbase | $299 | $299 | Yearly |
| Swyft Filings | $149 a quarter | $596 a year | Quarterly |
The typical renewal is $149 to $249. None of the first-year offers gives an end date, so plan on the renewal rate. LegalZoom says its price is for first-time agent customers and its renewal rate is subject to change.
What the price includes
At Bizee, CorpNet and Harbor Compliance, the $149 to $159 buys scanning, prompt notice, an online account, reminders and privacy. InCorp's $129 buys the same, but long service-of-process documents cost extra (see below). Two services bundle filings as well:
- Registered Agents Inc charges "$200 per year for registered agent service and that includes filing your state compliance report—you just pay the state fee."
- Firstbase Agent, at $299, includes annual report and franchise tax filings, with state fees extra.
Paying ahead
Two services cut the rate for prepaying:
- InCorp: "as low as $87 per year for a 5-year term". Five years cost $435 prepaid against $645 at $129 a year. Prepaid terms are non-refundable.
- Harbor Compliance: prepaying 2 or 3 years keeps the $99 rate. Three years at $99 cost $297, against $417 paying year by year.
For many entities, CorpNet offers bulk discounts from 20 units.
Extra fees
- Large documents. InCorp charges $15 per service-of-process document over 5 pages, waived for the first each year.
- Document caps. Registered Agents Inc's client agreement covers up to 15 legal documents a year, then "a fee may be applied". Its mail scanning add-on is $50 a year for 10 documents or $100 for 25, then $15 each.
- Leaving. Harbor Compliance and Registered Agents Inc can charge the costs of removing or resigning their details, and CorpNet can charge for filing its resignation. ZenBusiness may charge a cancellation fee before the first 12 months end. InCorp charges no cancellation fee. Swyft's terms say it may charge the full renewal fee if you don't prove you've appointed a new agent.
- Misusing the address. InCorp's terms forbid listing its address as your business address, with a $49 fee.
Refunds
Pro-rated refunds are rare. Bizee, InCorp, Swyft Filings and Firstbase say they give none for unused time. LegalZoom refunds within 30 days of the first purchase. MyCorporation gives none in year one, then a pro-rated refund within six months of a renewal.
Agents sold only with something else
Rocket Lawyer sells its agent at $124.99 a year only with a Plus ($249 a year) or Pro ($349 a year) membership. doola includes one only in its plans, from the $297-a-year Starter. Neither is in our registered agent ranking, since neither sells the agent on its own.
The short version
Compare renewal rates, not offers. Multiply by the number of states you need. Then check document limits and exit fees. Our registered agent ranking scores the renewal price at 40% of the total (methodology).
