Switching from Quo: free port-out, but recordings don't export
Updated Oct 6, 2026
Quo ports numbers out for free. Submit its port-out form and within 24 to 48 business hours it sends the details your new carrier needs, including any PIN or password and the service address. Transfers take 1-14 days. Export contacts and logs as CSV first; recordings and voicemail files aren't included. Cancel yourself in the app once the port completes. Payments aren't refunded.

Quo, formerly OpenPhone, makes leaving cheap: no port-out fee, no early-termination fee, self-serve cancelling. The risks are what the export leaves out and how long Quo holds your numbers after you cancel. Facts below come from each company's own pages, read Sep 30, 2026. For porting in general, see keeping your business number.
Export what you can, download voicemails first
A workspace Owner can export contacts, call logs and message history as CSV from Settings, General. Files arrive by email within 24 hours, and the link expires after 72 hours. Not included: call recordings and audio files, transcripts and AI summaries, voicemail files, and images and media attachments. Quo's port-out article says to download voicemails before porting.
Port your numbers out
Quo's port-out article has you submit its port-out request form with the numbers, your account email and the new carrier. Within 24 to 48 business hours Quo sends the details your new carrier needs, including any PIN or password and the service address on file; your letter of authorization must match them exactly. Porting out isn't available during a trial. The transfer takes 1-14 days depending on the receiving carrier, and your numbers stay fully operational until the transfer completes. Quo's porting page says it ports numbers out for free. You are billed until the port completes, and completing the port doesn't cancel your subscription.
Cancel after the port, not before
Cancelling is self-serve: Plan & billing, Cancel Subscription, then type "Cancel". Payments already made aren't refunded, and the account stays active until the billing period ends. Quo's pages disagree on how long they hold your numbers after that: the help centre says 30 days maximum, the terms say no more than 45 days, and the pricing page says 60 days. We use the shortest, 30 days. Workspace data is also kept 30 days after cancelling; Quo says to export before cancelling for a permanent backup. So port first and cancel second. Quo's terms renew unless either side gives notice of non-renewal at least 30 days before expiry, and let you cancel at any time. Our guide to contracts and cancelling compares these terms.
Where to port
- Grasshopper says on its OpenPhone comparison page that you can port a number from OpenPhone for free, with its team's help. Its transfer article gives 7-10 business days for local numbers, and its porting page offers a temporary number while the port runs.
- Dialpad takes local US ports through an online form in your account once you have a paid subscription. Its porting FAQ says local ports average 7 days and can take upwards of 2 weeks when details don't match; US local ports are free. Its porting pages name no Quo guide.
- Line2 takes ports by email: send the letter of authorization and the number to its porting team. Its FAQ gives no time or fee and names no Quo guide.
