Price

SITE123 Premium shows $12.80 a month, and the card doesn't state the term. Its FAQ says a custom domain costs "as low as $10.8 per month (annual plan, paid up front)". We use $12.80, the worse reading for a buyer, which is $153.60 over 12 months. SITE123's help centre says the real packages (Basic, Advanced, Professional, Gold and Platinum, on terms from 3 months to 10 years) are chosen inside the dashboard after sign-up; their prices aren't on the public pricing page, so no renewal price is public.

Squarespace Basic is $19 a month billed annually, $228 a year, or $25 month to month. It shows no introductory price.

At SITE123's card price, a year costs $74.40 less than Squarespace Basic billed annually. Squarespace publishes every plan's price; SITE123 doesn't.

Where they differ

  • Support. SITE123 offers "free 24/7 live support" by chat on every plan, Free included; no phone. Squarespace offers email 24/7 and live chat Monday to Friday, 4 AM to 8 PM ET; it doesn't offer phone help. Its pricing table lists "24/7 customer support" on Basic, but chat runs on weekday hours only.
  • Trying it. SITE123 has a free plan on a subdomain, with its floating tag. Squarespace has a 14-day trial with no card.
  • Reservations. SITE123's Book a Table tool lets customers book a table and say how many diners are coming. Squarespace Basic includes an OpenTable block, so reservations run through OpenTable.
  • Menus and ordering. SITE123 describes menu management and options for online ordering; it doesn't say which package includes ordering. Squarespace Basic includes a Menu block; ordering goes through Tock, a separate subscription, or ChowNow from Core.
  • The free domain. Both give one year free on annual plans; SITE123's FAQ ties it to the first purchase of an annual plan.

Who should pick which

Pick SITE123 if you want chat at any hour, a free plan to start on, and table bookings built into the site rather than through OpenTable.

Pick Squarespace if you want to see every plan's price before signing up, pay monthly if you like, or already use OpenTable.
