Project management

How much does project management software cost? Entry plans for small teams

Quick answer

For a small team, project management entry plans cost $4 to $10.99 per user a month billed annually, and $5 to $13.99 billed monthly. Five users pay $20 to $54.95 a month on annual billing. Basecamp charges a flat $25 a month for up to 20 users instead. Second-tier plans run $9 to $25 a user billed annually, and nine of the ten tools have a free plan.

Most project management tools charge per user a month, with a discount for paying a year upfront. Here is what the entry plan (the cheapest paid plan that allows five users) costs at each tool we rank, then what the upper plans and extras cost. Prices from each company's pricing page, read Oct 1, 2026.

No promotions were showing on any of these pages. monday.com's "Special offer: $20/$30 off / month" on its Standard and Pro yearly cards offsets the value of the plan's AI credits, so the price you pay is the normal annual price.

Monthly billing costs more

Where both are offered, paying month by month raises the bill. Basecamp Freelancer is sold monthly only, at the same $25. Five users pay $25 a month on Zoho Projects, $30 on Trello, $50 on ClickUp, $60 on Smartsheet, monday.com or Notion, $67.45 on Asana and $69.95 on Teamwork.com. Wrike Team is sold annually only: five users pay $600 a year.

Minimums and bundles

  • Teamwork.com Basics needs at least 3 users: $41.97 a month billed monthly, or $359.64 a year billed annually.
  • monday.com plans "start from 3 users", sold in bundles of 3, 5, 10 and up.
  • Wrike sells accounts of up to 30 seats "in groups of five", so six users pay for ten.
  • Smartsheet Pro stops at 10 members, and Wrike Team at 15 users.

Typical second-tier plans

The second plan is where several tools put timelines, time tracking, proofing or more automation:

  • Zoho Projects Enterprise: $9 a user billed annually ($10 monthly), adding 10 read-only users.
  • Trello Premium: $10 a user ($12.50 monthly), adding the Timeline view.
  • ClickUp Business: $12 a user ($19 monthly), adding billable time and unlimited proofing.
  • monday.com Standard: $12 a seat ($14 monthly), adding timeline and Gantt views, automations and guests.
