Where they differ

  • Free plan. Jimdo has a free plan on a .jimdosite.com address, with 5 pages and Jimdo ads. Squarespace has no free plan, but a 14-day trial with no card.
  • Support. Jimdo Start gets support tickets, opened through its AI assistant and answered within 1-2 workdays; no chat with a person or phone. Squarespace offers email 24/7 and live chat Monday to Friday, 4 AM to 8 PM ET; it doesn't offer phone help. Its pricing table lists "24/7 customer support" on Basic, but chat runs on weekday hours only.

  • Ordering. Jimdo's pickup ordering needs an Online Store plan, from $18 a month. Squarespace works with Tock, a separate subscription, on any plan; ChowNow ordering needs Core or higher.
  • The domain. Jimdo Start includes a domain, and its page doesn't say whether that is only for the first year. Squarespace's free domain lasts one year on annual plans, then the standard rate applies.

Who should pick which

Pick Jimdo if you want to start on a free plan, a smaller yearly bill, and menus and bookings without a third-party service.

Pick Squarespace if you want to pay monthly, chat with a person on weekdays, or take reservations through OpenTable on the entry plan.
