GoDaddy vs Wix: AI prompts and phone support against a free plan and a branding-free Light

Updated Oct 15, 2026

The short answer

GoDaddy's Starter costs $9.99 a month for the first year billed annually; the price after that isn't published, month to month is $19.99, and the Airo branding stays. Wix Light costs $17 a month billed yearly with no intro price, removes Wix branding and includes a free domain for a year. Wix has a real free plan; GoDaddy's free tier only builds previews. Both list 24/7 support.

Price

GoDaddy's Starter is $9.99 a month billed annually in the first year, $119.88. After that, GoDaddy doesn't publish the annual price; month to month it is $19.99 ($239.88 a year), which we use as the long-run price.

Wix Light is $17 a month on a yearly subscription paid in full, $204 a year, with no introductory price. Wix doesn't show monthly-billing prices.

In year one GoDaddy costs $84.12 less. From year two, compare Wix's $204 with an unpublished GoDaddy renewal, or $239.88 a year paying GoDaddy month to month.

Where they differ

  • Branding. Wix Light includes "Remove Wix branding from your site". GoDaddy lists "Remove Airo branding" as coming soon on Professional and Ultimate only, so every GoDaddy site carries it today.
  • Free option. Wix has a free plan for a Wix-branded site on a Wix address. GoDaddy's free tier gives 50 AI credits a month for preview sites; publishing starts on Starter, so we count it as a trial.
  • Support. GoDaddy offers 24/7 phone and chat. Wix Light lists 24/7 customer care by chat, or a call you schedule with a Customer Care Expert.
  • Refunds. Wix says you can cancel a first Premium plan within 14 days for a full refund.
  • Restaurants. Wix Light includes custom menus; online orders and reservations start on Core at $29 a month billed yearly. GoDaddy's food and beverage page describes prompt-built menu, ordering and reservation apps; its builder page puts online payments on Professional.

Who should pick which

Pick GoDaddy if you would rather describe a site than build it, want to phone for help at any hour, and can live with the Airo branding.

Pick Wix if you want a free plan to start on, no builder branding on the entry paid plan, and a yearly price that is published before you buy. GoDaddy is on our list of website builders for restaurants.
