InMotion Hosting review: a 90-day refund window, and a $14.99 renewal
Updated Oct 6, 2026 · scored under rubric v1
InMotion Launch suits a buyer who wants the longest window to change their mind: a money-back guarantee of up to 90 days. The catches are the renewal, $14.99 a month after a $4.79 first year, paid daily backups and no phone support on Launch.
InMotion Hosting's Launch plan costs $4.79 a month on a 1-year term ($57.48 upfront), then renews at $14.99 a month. On 2 or 3 years it is $4.99, renewing at $13.99; month to month it is $16.99. Launch allows 2 websites, with free SSL, a free domain and unlimited email. Daily backups are a paid add-on, and refunds run up to 90 days, prorated after day 30 per one of its pages.
What it does well
- Money-back window of up to 90 days on shared hosting
- Unlimited email addresses and a free domain on Launch
- Month-to-month option at $16.99 with no jump
- Longer terms lower the renewal to $13.99
Where it falls short
- Renews at $14.99 on the 1-year term, about three times the $4.79 intro
- Daily automatic backups are the paid Backup Manager add-on
- No phone support on Launch: chat and tickets
- Launch allows 2 websites and lists no staging

What you get on Launch
- 2 websites.
- Free SSL, listed under "INCLUDED IN ALL PLANS".
- A free domain ("$23/yr value") on a 12, 24 or 36-month term.
- Unlimited email addresses.
- Backups: the plan table says "Backup Manager Available". Daily automatic backups come with the paid Backup Manager add-on.
- Staging: its shared hosting page doesn't list it for Launch. The WordPress plans list a "WordPress Staging Tool".
Catches and fine print
- Refund: two readings. The guarantee page says: "All Shared Hosting and Hosting for WordPress plans come with a full 90-day money-back guarantee." An FAQ on its home page says "prorated refunds can be requested between 31 and 90 days of your initial term". We use the worse reading: a full refund for 30 days, then prorated up to day 90. That is why we say "up to 90 days". Domain fees and add-ons are not refunded, and if you took the free domain its regular price is deducted.
- Longer isn't cheaper up front. 2 and 3 years cost $4.99 a month against $4.79 for 1 year, but renew lower, at $13.99.
- WooCommerce is self-installed. The WooCommerce page offers WordPress pre-installed and describes adding WooCommerce yourself; it points small stores to the Shared WordPress plans.
Support
The plan table lists "Chat and Ticket Only" for Launch and "Phone, Chat and Ticket Support" from Power up (source). All plans get "24/7 Award Winning Human Support".
Who it suits
Launch suits a buyer trying a first host who wants time to back out, and who is fine with chat support and making their own backups. WP Launch puts InMotion on our WooCommerce list, and Pro, which the page calls "the practical choice for agencies hosting client sites", on our agencies list.
Look elsewhere if you need daily backups or phone support on the cheapest plan, or a renewal close to the intro price.
